President EGJ appoints Alkali as new political adviser

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday
named a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic
Party, Prof. Rufa’i Alkali, as his new Special Adviser on Political
Affairs.
The appointment was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati.
Alkali replaces Mr. Ahmed Gulak, whose appointment was terminated on April 29.
Abati said Alkali’s appointment takes immediate effect.
He said the President also appointed Hajia Baraka Sani as his Senior Special Assistant for Schools Agriculture Programme.
Sani recently resigned from the cabinet of Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as Commissioner for Agriculture.
The
statement read, “President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has appointed Prof.
Rufa’i Alkali as his new Special Adviser on Political Affairs.
“Prof.
Alkali, a political scientist, once served as the National Publicity
Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, and was appointed
Pro-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna last year. He
hails from Gombe State.
“The President
has also appointed Hajia Baraka Sani as his Senior Special Assistant
for Schools Agriculture Programme. Hajia Sani was until recently, the
Kano State Commissioner for Agriculture.
“Both appointments are with immediate effect.”
